To Everything There is a Season

For almost all of my 20+ years at BPFNA ~ Bautistas por la Paz, I have been privileged to work with Evelyn Hanneman. She's been a steady and dedicated presence in the office through many years and many ups and downs. Much of Evelyn's work has been behind the scenes -- she's served the last four years as our part-time Finance Manager -- so few appreciate how crucial she's been to our stability and success, but I have seen it and can testify that's she's been a great gift to this organization.

Evelyn has stepped away completely from her responsibilities as of December 31, 2018. Attached you'll find her farewell letter to you all. Please join me in thanking Evelyn for her years of dedicated work.

From Evelyn Hanneman

After 20 years, my season at BPFNA comes to an end. Retiring from my full time position as co-coordinator four years ago, I was hired back to work quarter time as finance manager, sort of back where I started in 1999.

BPFNA has offered me a variety of growth opportunities – being interim director for a while and taking Conflict Transformation training with Dan Buttry – as well as time spent with people dedicated to working for peace rooted in justice in North America and around the world.

Travel around the US, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico introduced me to peacemakers working in a variety of settings and on many issues. Travel to Liberia to facilitate Conflict Transformation trainings before their national elections in 2011 and to Myanmar (Burma) in 2013 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the arrival of Ann and Adoniram Judson with Baptists there were highlights of my time with BPFNA.

It has been a joy to work with LeDayne Polaski during these 20 years. Her dedication, vision and perseverance have been a blessing to BPFNA – and to me.

I look forward to watching the new season for BPFNA unfold in the months and years ahead. While there is a season for everything, BPFNA’s season is not yet over, not when its voice for peace and justice is so greatly needed “for such as time as this.”
