Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America hires Summer Conference director
May 29, 2012 – Charlotte, N.C. – The Baptist Peace Fellowship of North America hires Thea Leticia Mateu Zayas as Summer Conference director. Thea has just completed her first year of studies at Claremont School of Theology in Claremont, CA and holds a Master’s degree in education from the University of Puerto Rico. As Summer Conference director, she will work part-time, as a contracted employee, and focus on planning the BPFNA's 2013 conference in Spokane, WA.
Thea has organized numerous conferences and events, including several international conferences. She is committed to social justice and is passionate about building a culture of peace rooted in justice.
“We are excited to have Thea join the BPFNA team!,” says Program Coordinator LeDayne McLeese Polaski. “She brings a very strong set of skills, much relevant experience, connections with a variety of groups which will be very advantageous to us, and long commitment to social justice. She is a true kindred spirit, and she'll be a wonderful asset to the organization.”
LeDayne McLeese Polaski has planned BPFNA’s conferences for the past 14 years. With this new position filled, she will be able to focus on other aspects of her work, especially networking with BPFNA members and Partner Congregations. Thea will start as Summer Conference director on July 15, 2012 and attend the conference at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN.
