BPFNA Interim Executive Director Doris Garcia Rivera has been selected as a lecturer to present as part of the Hispanic Theological Initiative’s (HTI) 25th Anniversary celebration. Doris’s lecture is titled Soaring into the Night: Remapping the theological star chart / Remontando la noche: Dibujando un otro mapa estelar teológico and will be presented Monday, March 22 at 6:30 PM Eastern over Zoom. Sponsored by Princeton Theological Seminary, Doris’s presentation is part of a three-lecture series titled: The Role of Religious Institutions in the Future of American Society: Interdisciplinary Approaches from Latinx Perspectives. Other presenters in the series include Dr. Eric Barreto and Dr. Gerardo Marti.

La Directora Ejecutiva Interina de BPFNA, Doris García Rivera, ha sido seleccionada conferencista para presentarse como parte de la celebración del 25° aniversario de la Iniciativa Teológica Hispana (HTI, por sus siglas en inglés). Lázaro González, Suriana (Sury) González & Noé Trujillo are employed with the Baptist Seminary of Mexico in Mexico City. Lázaro is a retired professor who still works part time. Sury is in charge of the administration for the seminary and also runs the Open Education program that supports adults needing to finish their secondary education. Noé is a current professor with the Seminary, and he is also in charge of its academic programs.

Lázaro González, Suriana (Sury) González y Noé Trujillo trabajan en el Seminario Bautista de México en la Ciudad de México. Lázaro es un profesor jubilado que todavía trabaja a tiempo parcial. Sury está a cargo de la administración del seminario y también dirige el programa de Educación Abierta que apoya a los adultos que necesitan terminar su educación secundaria. Noé es catedrático actual del Seminario, y también está a cargo de sus programas académicos.

The Hispanic Summer Program (HSP) was formed by a consortium of theological schools and seminaries in the US and Puerto Rico committed to promoting the presence, scholarship and perspectives of Latinx students in theological education and church ministry. This program supplements and enriches theological perspectives offered at seminaries and universities through academic courses and other activities offered at HSP. The consortium is currently formed by 36 schools that are very diverse in theological perspectives and curricula and represent different regions in the US.

El Programa Hispano de Verano (PHV) fue formado por un consorcio de escuelas teológicas y seminarios en los Estados Unidos y Puerto Rico, comprometido a promover la presencia, la beca y las perspectivas de los estudiantes latinos en la educación teológica y el ministerio de la iglesia. Este programa complementa y enriquece las perspectivas teológicas ofrecidas en los seminarios y universidades a través de cursos académicos y otras actividades ofrecidas en el PVH. El consorcio está formado actualmente por 36 escuelas que son muy diversas en perspectivas teológicas y currículos y representan diferentes regiones en los Estados Unidos.

Thoughts for recognizing workers on Labor/Labour Day

Labor day reminds us of the love for our neighbors. God does not merely call us to love ourselves and our immediate families and friends. God calls us to love all of our neighbors. This love for neighbors includes the love for the millions of workers in our own country and in the world.
